Adding more memory to your IPAQ (2008-10-05)
I have had this IPAQ for several years now and it has more than served its purpose for me. Just recently however I wanted to add more memory to it and went to Staples to buy a 4 GIG SDHC. When I inserted the card into the unit,it still had the same amount of memory as before. (You can check this by clicking on SETTINGS/System/Memory and then click on STORAGE CARD.) So I called up HP and after they checked their records, they told me that that this unit can only take up to 512MB !! I was then put thru to their parts department and asked if they even made 512MB SD cards anymore. They said no they didn't, but that it could be specially ordered for only $228!! For that amount of money I could easily buy another unit, forget the card. I couldn't believe it. So I researched online and found a user who was using a 4 GIG SD card in his IPAQ 4150 with no problems. I read that since the Windows Mobile 2003 runs with FAT32, there should be no reason why it can't handle SD cards with 2 gig,4 gig, etc., when you need that extra memory. The only difference was that you have to use a NON SDHC card. The HC stands for High capacity which uses a different architecture. So, you have to use the standard 4 GIG SD card without the HC on the label. I ran back to Staples and found a 2 GIG standard SD card from SanDisk (they didn't have the higher 4 GIG on the shelf or I would've bought that one) for only $14.99 plus tax and when I inserted the card in the unit, it showed the increase in memory just fine! I wanted to pass this along so that you don't get discouraged when you need that extra amount of memory and are told that it can't be done. I'm still cringing at the thought of buying only 512 MB of memory for $228! It's unbelievable what people will try to con you into. In any case, this has nothing to do with the unit itself. I am now a very happy camper indeed!

Handy and Easy to use (2008-06-01)
When I set out to purchase my first pocket pc I was very apprehensive because I didn't want to pay too much money for something I really didn't need, and the first one I bought was just a glorified calender. I needed something in between that at least had a word program on it so I could work on homework away from the computer.

Well, this little gizmo has everything I was looking for. When I went to upload the software to my computer to sync them I was without a password for my software. Well, I purchased this item used, (And I was still VERY impressed with the quality of the used item,) and opted to send an e-mail to the seller to explain what happened to try and get my needed information. I was contacted within 48 hours with exactly the information I needed and was able to get the software uploaded. Since doing that however, I have not been able to sync it with my laptop to be able to transfer my word files from pocket pc to laptop. I think I just need to play with it a little more though.

My Personal Brainjar (2006-10-25)
What can I say, I love my little iPaq. I've owned mine for several years now and never had a problem with it. There are a lot of things I like about it: It's small and sexy; It has a headphone jack; It's got replacable batteries; It has flexible storage with SD cards; It's got a bright and very readable screen.

It may not have all the latest and "greatest" features, but it's definitely good at what it does. Beyond the standard personal information manager stuff (which can be a TON of help), I've used it for everything from an mp3 player to a guitar tuner. Bottom line: I've found it to be good value for my money. In fact, it's still selling at what I bought it for!

Note: If you prefer typing to writing, I definitely recommend picking up the Stowaway XT keyboard to go with this.

IPAQ 4150 - THE BEST PDA EVER - 2006 (2006-03-07)
there are no other with the size of the 4150, it fits right on any pocket size. More, it is faster than new ones (f.ex. i compared side-by-side with Dellx51v and he was faster using all softwares, no doubt, althouth he has a slower clock). HP really did one of the best pdas ever exist when they produce the 4150 ..... years ago. For ever one who are looking PDA - 2006 : IPAQ 4150 !

Greatest PDA! (2004-07-22)
This is not a review to influence your decision. The HP iPaq 4150 is absolutely the best PDA out there for a great price. I really like WIFI!!!

Ipaq 2215 Pocket PC (2008-08-30)
I appreciated the excellent response to my purchase and how everything was in order upon receipt. I would definitely purchase from this company again.
The Pocket PC provides so many useful features for keeping my records, calendar, meeting notes on Word, and transfer of data to my main computer. There is more this mini-computer does I am exploring. Be sure to keep the battery charged!

It's ok (2007-05-18)
I believe had it not been for the lack of assistance I received from the seller (Not Amazon) of this PDA, I would have rated it a lot higher. Most of the applications and games work fine on the 2215, except for the fact, that it would not read either SD or CF cards from it's card slot on top. I did send my complaint, but never received any assistance as to what to do. One of the reasons for purchasing this particular model, was, so that I could view information or photos from the memory cards. Other than that it's not a bad PDA. I'll get a treo or a blackberry next time.

Buyer beware. (2007-01-09)
Do not buy a used iPAQ Pocket PC or anyother Pocket PC. I bought one for my wife for Christmas(I will be paying for this for a long time). Received it before the 25th. We just got around to trying to down-load the software to my laptop. Well it seems that we need a 25 character pin code to do anything with the PC. It did not come with the code and HP wants to charge $50 to try and help to get the PC to Hot Sync with the laptop. Plus they don't even support it anymore. Right now I have a $179 useless piece of hardware. Again, DO NOT buy used or refurbished unless you can verify that all the information is there. PS: The seller will not take it back.

Not a bad PDA But Needs Internet help (2007-01-06)
Really does what it says and alot more however the browser on mine was out of date and hard to upgrade?

Really Good Product (2006-09-27)
I really love this Ipaq it has every thing I need to do my Job with. This can really replace your laptop. But if you do buy this you will need a WiFi card to connect to the internet. Hp Job well done with this Ipaq.

Unable to connect via USB cable (2008-10-03)
The OZ-290HII works as a PDA but I tried several times on 2 different computers running Win98 to get the USB connection to work. And I can use a USB keyboard, a USB optical mouse, a USB cable for my digital camera, ect.

The software installs okay, but it never seems to find a port to use on the USB cable. So IMHO basically this PDA is worthless to anyone who wants to share data with the desktop pc. Maybe it will work on XP or Vista but I definitely can NOT get a USB connection via Win98 2nd edition.

Next time I'll get a PDA with wireless and USB connections, just so I have a better chance of bring data into my pc.

Dark (2008-08-31)
I purchased a Sharp Wizard Organizer, & found it to be very difficult to read. The writing is very dark & even when you use the very little lighted back area, it's still almost impossible to read at night.

don't buy (2008-06-30)
I purchased this PDA new and with in 1 week the time was off (new batteries also) the alarm only worked part of the time, so it was useless to me being that the reason for purchasing it was to remind me of meetings and appointments. I did like the case design but trying to figure out how to make everything work is somewhat difficult and I am usually good with electronics. I can't imagine someone with a limited skill with electronics trying to make this work without using the manual constantly. I have read where there is a problem linking it to your computer but I never tried it before sending it back and buying a Palm. I thought I could save some money and get by with this one but no chance. So my recommendation would be to spend the extra money and get one that's been proven to work well.

list-making impossible (2008-06-25)
I used to have the original model of this PDA and used it primarily to set up categories in the Memo section for shopping, etc., then made lists that I could take to the stores to use. Very handy. No little hand-written notes swimming in my bag.... This new model lacks both backspace and return functions, which are very important in keyboarding! It is impossible to make lists in the Memo function of this PDA. Overall, I found the product to be clunky and unintuitive. Anyone want mine?? :)

After 4 years of usage... (2008-06-09)
I used the OZ-290H, the precursor to 290HII. Used it for four years and now the screen has gone all flaky on me-- many of the numbers and digits wont appear at all on the entry pad. So I am now going for HII. Four years of regular usage is good enough for me. So my feedback is on the earlier 290H model which I think is mostly valid for this model too. Plan to modify this feedback once I get my 290HII. PS: Got the 290 HII model and it is the same as the 290H. No difference whatsoever as far as I can see.

I use it for:
1. Phone #s, addresses, etc.
2. Memo: Take short notes, like some shop names, passwords, note of books to buy, etc.

Pros:
1. Cheap, light-weight, and easy to use. Never lost the stylus.
2. Does all the basic organizer functions that I need.
3. Many a times I use my fingers and not the stylus and it works ok.
4. Battery life for my usage (about twice a day) is about 2 yrs.
5. Computer backup is great. I backup once in 6 months or so.
6. Nicely fits into my pocket without a bulge.
7. Has a sturdy flip top to protect the screen.
8. 1MB or so of memory is more than enough. I ended up using about 25% after 4 years of gathering all the information + adding from 3-yrs worth from my old YO Sharp organizer. But then, I never worked in 'Sales' or customer contact.

Cons:
1. Cannot backup to my Vista computer. So I use my XP laptop for this.
2. The memo feature limits the character entry. I find this annoying being used to their earlier YO digital diaries. Not such a big deal.
3. Information backup is not in an easy-to-use/modify excel/word file. I get a .bak file for backup that I cannot easily open. BUT, it allows me to 'export' in .csv format each of the sections.
4. Kind of clunky-- especially with no backspace and 'enter' (new-line) button.

Superb res, reliable and versatile (2005-08-05)
I bought mine refurb and after 2-yrs I'm still in love with my SJ20. Although it sometimes fails and auto resets, of all of my gadgets it's by far my best companion at the point I depend on it. Sony's decision of quittin' the PDA business was annoying, I have to say, but my loyalty to Clié remains intact, so whenever somebody asks me for a recommendation on PDAs I always suggest Sony Clié. Right now I'm looking for an upgrade, which shall be a TJ27 (the one that comes with built-in camera), and my beloved SJ20 will remain close to me in my fianceé's hands.

Nice unit but poor battery (2004-12-10)
I picked this unit up for my son 2 years ago, he enjoyed it a great deal, until the battery would no longer hold a charge. That happened about a year after he got it. I was just looking into getting a new battery for it so he could use it again and went to a battery store. They checked and an aftermarket replacement cost $49+ plus $5 S&H so I'm still in search mode on that.

This is the worst PDA I have owned (2004-12-09)
DON'T believe the hype. I am pretty techno-savy and this unit did not do what it claims to do. The hot-synch did not work properly, the battery had below average life, difficult to reset, poor help files. Oh, did I mention, Sony never sent me the rebate they promised.

Economy & Power (2004-11-15)
This is an attractive, compact, useful, easy to use, durable PDA. I had been using a Palm III and really enjoyed the high resolution of the Clie's 320 x 320 screen. Using the backlight drains the battery fairly quickly, but it's necessary for ease of reading, unless you are in an ideal lighting environment. After about 14 months of use, the battery stopped holding a charge as well as it was supposed to, and needs to be recharged about every two days. One of the few design flaws is an adapter required for either recharging or hot syncing. If you recharge in one location, and hot sync in another, you need to keep carrying the adapter around with you. My rebate came in the form of a free leather carrying case. It was so small that it's an ordeal to get the PDA in or out of the case, rendering the case virtually useless. However the protective flap works well and has an attractively accented logo. The jog dial is great for one-handed navigation. The "back" button is handily located on the side, but does not work in many applications, and just returns to the desktop. The search function became unreliable in later months, generating frequent fatal errors. The geek squad "fixed" this with a hard reset, but once data was restored via hot sync, the same problem immediately reocurred. Despite these shortcomings, this is a great organizational tool at a modest price.

Very solid PDA (2004-09-12)
This little PDA does not have a color screen, does not play mp3s, and will not cook your food for you or drive you to work. As something to store information in, it's great though. It has 16mb of storage, which is enough to hold plenty of images and documents, and with the backlit high-resolution screen, you will see them clearly. The battery lasts quite a while because you are not wasting power on a color screen, too. This PDA is rather unique in that I know of no other one that has a backlit high-resolution grayscale screen. Those things make it the best among low-cost PDAs. Too bad you have to buy it used now. It's also stylishly designed, which helps if you feel sort of silly or geeky whipping out a PDA.

PalmOne Tungsten E (2008-10-24)
It was recieved in good condition but unable to download any PDA software, IT would have been nice to have ability to download with windows vista, and even nicer to have gotten a user manual or at least be informed of what was and was not included.

Best money spent (2008-09-09)
I bought a used Palm from Amazon Marketplace for school, and I am just pleased with it in every single way. The functions were incredible for this little machine. When everyone else had a backpack full of textbooks and PowerPoint slides, I just carried my Palm in my pocket. I had my textbook in PDF and my PowerPoint slides all stored in my Palm. When people are busy writing down notes in class, I just typed away with my Palm and wireless keyboard. When presentations were given, most presenters had a stack full of note card and printouts of their PPT, I had them again in my palm. The Palm also allowed me to play videos and music from my SD disk. And with all these functions, this PDA has a great battery life. It had certainly made college life much easier. I had my Palm for about three years now. It is still running strong. I rarely, I mean rarely die on me. What else could you ask for?

Was reliable, but now I've lost some faith in it (2008-05-13)
I bought my Palm Tungsten E (used but in excellent shape) over a year ago. It has been working well, although I still have problems getting it to Hot Sync with my Office 2003 applications.

About 6 weeks ago, it froze, then crashed. Once it was working again (after I reloaded all my information--calendar and contacts), I saw that I lost some of the programs. There is no longer a calculator function.

I pressed the reset button, and lost more applications. I am tempted to go back to a Franklin Planner...good old paper and ink!

Palm One Tungsten E Handheld (2008-05-12)
I use this daily for many purposes. I do not use the Bluetooth function, but it is included. not enough memory even with an extra card. Easy to use, and to teach yourself how to use it.

Power Switch Fragile, Can't do Word Search (2008-05-08)
The top power switch on these units is very fragile. It will break with normal everyday use. Suggest setting the unit up so that you never have to use this switch to turn the unit on.

Also this unit encounters a software failure when trying to do a word search. However, I decided it wasn't worth the time and effort to return it for this one glitch.

As I already have a substantial data base from a prior unit I had which failed due to the power switch, it would be too much trouble to switch product to a pocket PC. However, if I were starting from scratch I'd definitely get an HP unit.

What I don't understand is if cell phones can be built to be near indestructable, why can't Palm design a unit which is more robust!!!!

Great for the Price! (2008-09-17)
The PalmOne Zire 31 is great for the person who doesn't want a large planner to carry around. I use mine everyday both as a student and for work so it serves it's purpose. The software is a bit outdated and the memory space is small compared to the newer technology but if you're only using it for everyday meetings, assignments, and schedules; there is plenty of space. I actually have never tried playing music on it but I'm sure an IPOD or IPhone would be much better. All in all, it serves it's purpose and the price was great! I would recommend it to anyone looking for a beginner planner.

Great handheld (2008-09-07)
This is a great product. I upgraded from the Zire 21 for two reasons: I wanted a backlit screen and I wanted more memory. The 31 has the backlit color screen, which makes it easier to see and gives more options in customizing screen setups in my programs. I also displays photos very well. The card slot provides the extra memory I needed, which is what I think makes it a better product that the Zire 22 (and was the deciding point for my choosing this one over the 22). The price was the reason I chose this over the Tungsten, which was running closer to $200.

One tip: Keep the screen backlight set on low for most uses and the battery lasts a lot longer.

Zire 31-Great Little PDA for the $ (2008-08-12)
The Zire 31 is great for the price (about $70) from an amazon seller. This is my second one. The first lasted about 3 1/2 years before screen fade set in. Unfortunately, palm doesn't make this anymore. It has card expansion slot which the Zire 22 (the current PDA only device from Palm) doesn't have. If this one lasts like the first did I will be pleased.

Works Great! (2008-07-11)
I received my Palm Pilot sooner than promised, in brand new condition. It came with the manual and Install CD, and the seller also included a paper with more helpful hints in addition to those. I charged it, set it up, then transfered my info from my Palm desktop. It was so easy and quick!

Don't bother (2008-06-28)
This Palm product lasted less than one year before the the touchscreen would not recognize or locate the pen. Retraining it did not solve the problem. I was very disappointed in this product after owning 2 other Palm IIIs for several years.

Does everything and more (2008-10-14)
I bought this to have wifi internet access at free hotspots, without any monthly subscriptions. It does all I wanted and way more. In fact, I can't seem to find anything this unit does NOT do. With the addition of freeware software, I can watch full DVD movies, listen to streaming internet radio, watch online videos, process email, surf the web, download stuff, view PDFs, read eBooks, write music, RECORD music, play video games, view pictures, take notes, make actual phone call using SKYPE, annoy coworkers with a synthesized "Theremin", and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember at the moment... other than the beefy horsepower in my desktop, this little thing does nearly everything my big box does - and fits in my shirt pocket!

I have not had wifi speed issues I see mentioned here - yes, the "BARS" are low sometimes, but the wifi works great when you dial it up to 100%. Speed of processor seems fine too. It's a work tool to me, not a video game or CAD manipulator. Yet I play video games on it all the time. Using TCPMP it has NO PROBLEMS playing back full speed, full screen video/movies.

My level is advanced geekness so I have not feared pushing it past it's limits and am always suprised how well it handles everything. It does get "rebooted" every other day or so since it is Windows based and suffers like every other Windows of memory fragmentation, thus needing cleansed. The 16GB mem card I put in it works great.

Great unit - best power per price I could find - I highly recommend it

Great unit but compatiblity issue kills its name. (2008-10-08)
The ASUS MyPal A626 is one of the best Pocket PCs I have ever seen.

But unfortunately, neither Amazon.com's description nor the manufacturer's note did not explain that it doesn't work with Vista computers very well.

Although there is no problem recognizing the device and interact by putting files around, when it comes to synchronizing with Microsoft Outlook 2007, it does nothing.

Windows Mobile Device Center tells me that it has been synchronized, but I find no difference on the unit.

If someone knows a solution to this, I would greatly appreciate if you could contact me via Amazon.com

asus a626 (2008-09-13)
was delivered from the vendor in a timely fashion it appears to have inherited some of the traits the xp has does like to crash palm is prob more stable but this unit does interface with the computer where the palm would not play nice with xp 64

Great Pocket PC!!! (2008-09-09)
This pocket pc is great. It is a pretty small one and looks great. This pocket runs really fast. Mine has pretty bad wifi range, but I don't know how it would be with a brand new one. (bought mine used) I really recomend this pocket pc to everybody.

Asus A626 3.5" PDA Love it (2008-08-24)
Preformed much better than expected. I was able to find lots of free software. Skip the windows media player and install TCPMP instead, plays well and did'nt have to convert most of video I already had.Only complaint is battery life. That would be more tolerable if I could pick up additional batteries and had a way to charge them. Might even buy one for my daughter now the price is $30.00 cheaper. Amazon overnight shipping was really overnight, I had it in less than 24 hours.
