This handheld features a 32 MB of flash memory (20 MB accessible for file and software storage), Palm OS 5.4 (Garnet), a fast 200 MHz ARM-based processor, and an internal rechargeable battery (that can be charged via the included AC adapter or via the USB cable connected to your PC).
Weighing just over 3 ounces and about the same size as a deck of playing cards, the Palm Z22 is compact and stylish with a white front and translucent blue backing. Small enough to fit into any purse, backpack or back pocket, it boasts a bright, 160 x 160-pixel color touchscreen display, which provides easy readability of names, addresses, and appointments. You can even color-code appointments for improved organization, and view and carry pictures of friends and family wherever you go.
Operating System and Software
The installed Palm OS 5.4 uses the intuitive and easy-to-learn Graffiti 2 writing software to input data into the handheld (as well as an on-screen keyboard). Windows users can synchronize their calendar, contacts, tasks, and notes with Microsoft Outlook. The Palm OS features the following organizer applications:
- Contacts: Lets you store several addresses for each contact, and with new fields for more phone numbers, multiple e-mail addresses, instant messenger IDs, and Web sites.
- Calendar: Use the new Agenda view to see upcoming calendar events, tasks due, and important e-mail, and color-code your events to provide an easy way to reference your calendar in the Agenda, Day, Week, and Month views. Take more notes, or synchronize more details from your desktop, in the larger Memos and Notes fields.
- Tasks: Use tasks with alarms and repeating tasks to set reminders for important commients.
Compatibility
The Palm Z22 is compatible with PCs running Windows Windows 2000 (SP4) and XP (Outlook synchronization requires MS Outlook 2000, 2002, or 2003; sold separately), and with Macs running Mac OS 10.2.8 to 10.4.

Best Basic PDA Anywhere (2008-10-17)
You will not find a better basic no-frills PDA anywhere! I use mine all the time for scheduling, notes, contacts, and to read ebooks and text files. I don't even carry a paper Bible to Church any more. Everything I need is in my Z22. There are tons of great programs that add to the functionality of the Z22. One possible issue to be aware of is that it took about a week for my eyes to adjust to the screen resolution. After that there where no issues. I would recommend this PDA to anyone who wants to basically manage time and contacts along with the ability to read ebooks and text information. If you need Wi-Fi or Blue Tooth go with the Palm TX. I am at an expert level with computers and also manage a network for my job and this PDA still is very very functional for me.

I have used Palm products before & liked them (E2 and VIIx). this product - z22 is terrible. the stylus didn't work, and had to be used almost like a hammer to have a running chance of it working. I do not Palm Z22 Handheldrecommend this item! not an Amazon problem -- Palm really messed up with this one.
Perfect for ADHD! (2008-10-14)
With my ADHD, all I need is something to keep track of my To Do list, appointments, kids' homework deadlines & club meetings, etc., and this is PERFECT! I love being able to set my own reminders & priorities, look at my calendar at a glance, keep my contacts all in one place, have a backup file on my laptop.
I've had mine for 6 months & have never had a single problem with it. Nope, not one - believe me, with ADHD, I AM VERY HARD ON EVERYTHING! It was a great buy at $[...], and I'd highly recommend it to anyone.
Man's new best friend (2008-10-09)
I personally have used the Palm Z22 since it first came out and it is still the premier PDA. With everyone looking to upgrade to the fanciest electronic they can get their hands on, the Z22 maintains a conservative flair for those who purchase the product for its primary purpose; To keep all important dates and contact information for personal or business needs. Refurbished Zire 22 -- excellent value (2008-10-06)
The Palm Zire 22 is a simple PDA. Small, light weight, good battery life, runs the standard Palm desktop software. If you don't need WiFi, Bluetooth or cell phone capabilities this is the one you want. This refurbished unit seems to be as good as a new one, at a much lower price.
